Today’s competitive environment requires organisations to improve and grow. To do so requires projects to create new and better services and products. It is an exciting, dynamic, and hugely desirable career, attracting an immense spectrum of professionals from all corners of the globe. Project Management skills can empower and assist you with the tools, techniques, and processes required to complete projects on time, within budget and to project specifications. Project management is a universally beneficial skill to have and can be used across a multitude of industries and in every organisation or business.
Project Managers vs Project Administrators
Project Managers and Project Administrators are both valued individuals and in demand and both are essential to the successful completion of projects. Although the Project Manager and the Project Administrator work closely together to ensure the successful completion of a project, their roles and functions are different. What they have in common though is a solid background in the principles, tools, techniques, and tools of project management.
Project Managers are individuals in charge of specific projects within an organisation. They are skilled at getting the best out of the people and projects that they oversee. The typical functions of a Project Manager are to plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of the specific project being worked on.
Project administration is the key to achieving success and maintaining control on any project. The Project Administrator contributes essential administrative support to the project team under the direction of a Project Manager. Typical duties of a Project administrator include all aspects of facilitating a project, convening meetings, collecting project information, taking meeting minutes, assisting with the developing of reports and presentations, and arranging training for project staff. In addition, the project Administrator participates in budget administration, keeping records, and assisting with forecasting project performance. Project Administrators can, and often do, advance into a Project Manager role.
