In 1991, at the age of 32, Valiko Matshaya (58) obtained his matric, but he did not stop there and after obtaining his national professional diploma in Education at the age of 49 in 2009, he started teaching at 51 in 2011.

Matshaya is a life long student who is now furthering his studies in Life Coaching through the Academy of York
An ordained pastor of the Apostolic Faith Mission and an educator at the Thusanong Primary, Matshaya has grabbed life by the horns and rides on the wave of success.
He was ordained on 1 April 2018. He teaches English and Life Skills at Thusanong Primary. Before this Matshaya taught in Adult Basic Education Training (Abet) at the Vukuzenzele Abet School in Thabong.
In 2014 he passed his masters in Christian Counselling and he is currently doing his doctorate in Leadership through the Faith Bible College. Matshaya will complete this course in 2019. He is also doing his advanced certificate in Education through the University of the Free State (UFS).
He will obtain this qualification in 2019. Matshaya is doing his third-year certificate in Theology at the Lesotho Apostolic Faith Mission College, and will obtain this qualification in 2019. This multi-skilled man is also a long-distance ultra marathon runner, and has completed six Comrades Marathons and two Two Oceans Marathons.
Matshaya is a Level 3 coach in Athletics South Africa (ASA) middle distance and a Level 3 School Association head coach. He married his wife, Maria (58), in Odendaalsrus in 1988, and the couple has three sons – Pule, Mvola and Bossy – and a daughter, Mamsi.
